Go Draw is the basic drawing course of the South East Art Society Inc. Structured around basic concepts such as line, tone, texture, perspective, light and form. Participants will be encouraged to explore and experiment with the concepts. All welcome and no experience necessary though experienced artists could find the classes refreshing. The Port Pirie Art Prize is celebrating its 15th year of showcasing the artists and the magnificence of the Southern Flinders Ranges and all that it holds. From the recreational waters of the Spencer Gulf to the spectacular Telowie and Port Germein Gorges and the Bundaleer and Wirrabara forests this region continues to inspire artists. Artists from around Australia are invited to submit artworks which encompass a connection with the Southern Flinders Ranges region. The Local Government sector is playing an increasingly active role in supporting and promoting the arts and culture in local communities. Kogarah City Council is no exception as demonstrated by its growth and vibrant program of cultural activities and events. The latest exciting addition to Kogarah's arts and culture program is the 'City of Kogarah Art Prize'. This is the inaugural year for this Art Prize which is a national, acquisitive prize for painting, in any medium, with $12,000 in prizes and an open theme. We're looking for 16-25 year olds who want to help professional mural and graffiti artist Seb Humphreys to paint the Skate Park Mural in the last week of June. The mural design for the skate park was developed with ideas submitted by young people during Youth Week 2011 and and also through the Skate Park Mural Design workshop held last year. Pikes Wines Art Gallery has become renown as a wonderful space to view fine Art. The Needham Religious Art Prize is an initiative of the Anglican Parish of Mount Gambier. The prize was first held in 1998, and represents a deep commitment to the value of art and its ability to express ideas and beliefs that go beyond the surface of things. A substantial prize of $7,500 is being offered for a painting which interprets or portrays an event, character, story or truth from the Bible.
