Poetry by Noel Smith

We idolise our heroes,
Bow low to one and all,
Be they handy with a racket,
Be they gems with bat and ball.

We see pictures of their houses,
Palaces no doubt.
We know the doings of their families,
And what they're all about.

We hear about their naughty deeds,
Infidelities and such.
They might be sporting wonders
But some aren't up to much.

There's those whose pow'rs are mighty,
We should preserve the blood,
Of such cuddlesome performers,
And put them out to stud.
